MONS LVNÆ or Mons Lunæ is a Latin expression which, in English, means "Mount of the Moon". MONS LVNÆ was the name given to Sintra's Forest by the Roman Army during their occupation in the Iberian Peninsula. According to the legend, when the Romans first saw Sintra's Forest, on the contrary of the present days, it had the aspect of a barren mount in which the Moon appeared in a very enhanced way...

Note: The name MONS LVNÆ, has two ways of being written. Either you can write MONS LVNÆ, or you can write Mons Lunæ. According to a Latin's rule, when the word "Lunæ" is written in capital letters, it should be use V instead of U. Mons Lvnæ or MONS LUNÆ, are completely wrong.

As for us, we are a group of friends from Cascais, Sintra and Lisbon, which play in a Band with a music style based on Goth, Black an Death Metal, also with the influences of European and Mediterranean traditional music. The name MONS LVNÆ was suggested by a former member of the Band which discover this name in an encyclopaedia about Portuguese Castles. We decided then to adopt this name due to the cherish that we have for Sintra in someway, specifically for Sintra's Forest...
